Brewer Days features weekend of hometown fun

Brewer Days, an end-of-summer tradition, will be held Friday, Sept. 6 – Sunday, Sept. 8, at Brewer Auditorium and Doyle Field. The schedule of activities is:

Friday, Sept. 6

• 6-8 p.m., eighth annual Brewer Youth Hockey family barbecue, auditorium.

• 6-7 p.m. Brewer Hometown Band, auditorium.

• 6:30 p.m. Citizen of the Year-Business of the Year Awards announced by Mayor Kevin O’Connell, auditorium.

• 7 p.m., Brewer High School varsity football vs Brunswick, Doyle Field.

• 7-9:30 p.m., Family Street Dance and Block Party, music by DJ Hart, auditorium parking lot. Underwritten by Joel and Jacquelyn Dearborn.

• 9 p.m. Fireworks immediately following the football game. Underwritten by Brewer Federal Credit Union and The City of Brewer.

Saturday, Sept. 7

• 7-9:30 a.m., Brewer Kiwanis Club pancake breakfast, auditorium. $4, $2 children.

• 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Brewer Farmer’s Market, auditorium parking lot.

• 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Brewer Youth Soccer League, kindergarten through grade five, Doyle Field.

• 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Children’s carnival and activities, auditorium parking lot. Underwritten by Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems and Brewer Rehab. Features face painting, Inflatable slide, children’s games, displays and Inflatables provided by Playland Adventures.

• 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Brewer police and fire department displays and demonstrations, auditorium parking lot.

• 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., children’s pony rides, auditorium complex. $2 per ride

• 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m., Ian Black Band, classic rock, East Stage. Underwritten by Machias Savings Bank.

• 12:15-1:30 p.m.. The RetroRockerz, music From the 1950s to the 1970s, West Stage. Underwritten by Marden’s.

• 1:30-2:30 p.m., The Paradigm Blues, blues fusion, East Stage. Underwritten by Trans-Tech.

• 2:30-3:30 p.m., Children’s Money Grab for ages 6 to 12, auditorium stage.

• 3:30-4:30 p.m., Giant water slide with the Brewer Fire Department, Doyle Field.

• 4-6:00 p.m., free public skate, Penobscot Ice Arena, Acme Road.

• 5-6:30 p.m., Brewer Historical Society chowder dinner and silent auction, auditorium. $5.

Sunday, Sept. 8

• 9 a.m.-3 p.m., sixth annual Brewer Days Car Show, Snap Space parking. Sponsored by Brewer Boy Scout Troop 15. Music, food, prizes, children’s games.
