Household Hazardous Waste Program


Overview

Since 2014, the City of Brewer has operated its own Household Hazardous Waste program with great success. The program takes place once a year, typically on the first Saturday of October, and accepts a variety of hazardous waste. Acceptable waste for the program includes paint, thinner, gasoline, waste motor oil, pesticides, fertilizer, etc.

The items are: Ammunition – Call the Brewer Police Dept at 207-989-7001.
Biological Waste – Wrap and dispose of it in your weekly trash
Prescription Medicines – Call the Brewer Police Dept at 207-989-7004
Syringes and Sharps – Use a sharps container or place in a plastic bottle with a tightened cap
Radioactive Waste – contact the Maine Division of Environmental & Community Health – 207-287-5676
Explosives – Call first before moving them – Bangor Bomb Squad – 207-735-4036
