In 2014, due to increasing costs associated with the regional program, the City of Brewer ran its own household hazardous waste collection program with great success and has continued it since. The HHHW collection program takes place once a year, generally the first Saturday in October, and the waste that is acceptable for the program is paint, thinner, gasoline, waste motor oil, pesticides, fertilizer, etc.
