Water main break closes Brewer Community School

BREWER, Maine — A water main break has shut down Tuesday classes at the Brewer Community School.

Brewer Superintendent of Schools Dan Lee said Tuesday morning the water main break occurred at 11:45 p.m. Monday.

Lee said the break occurred in one of the school’s main lines, a 1½-inch pipe, resulting in water damage, he said.

Lee said this marks the third water main break the school has endured since it opened in the fall of 2011.

Lee said the pipe was repaired quickly, but workers were busy Tuesday drying out the building in hopes classes could resume Wednesday.

“We hope to be back to work [Wednesday],” he said.
