Tiller & Rye, the region’s first local grocer, will host its grand opening on Tuesday, April 7th at noon at their location on 20 South Main Street, directly across the street from High Tide Restaurant.

The co-owner, Sarah Morneault, tells us “Tiller & Rye embraces an old world approach to grocery shopping. We focus on providing quality foods free of harmful additives and raised the way nature intended. We cater to all sorts of dietary needs; gluten-free and meat and dairy alternatives. We are very proud to offer products from Maine, we want to showcase the fact that Maine is way ahead of the curve in providing local and sustainable food. Stop by and get a hot cup of house blended coffee while you decide what’s for dinner.”

In the past, the region has been served by several farmers markets serving high quality products, but now, all of those offerings and more will be located under one roof. Tiller & Rye specializes in carrying locally sourced food and products from many of these same farmers including fresh produce, artisan cheeses, local meats, craft beer, organic wine, freshly baked breads and all natural household products.

“I’ve been excited about this project since it first hearing about it. It provides a great service by giving folks healthier grocery options. Cosmetically it revitalizes a highly visible property that has been dormant now for a couple of years. I’m incredibly excited about having this business in our city,” said Mayor Matt Vachon.

Overflow parking is available across the street in the municipal parking lot.
