Overview
Since 2014, the City of Brewer has operated its own Household Hazardous Waste program with great success. The program takes place once a year, typically on the first Saturday of October, and accepts a variety of hazardous waste. Acceptable waste for the program includes paint, thinner, gasoline, waste motor oil, pesticides, fertilizer, etc.

- Prescriptions and Medicines- Call Brewer Police Department (989-7001)
- Biological Waste- Wrap and dispose of in your weekly household trash.
- Syringes and Sharps- Use a sharps container or place in a plastic bottle/container with a tightened cap. As an alternative, you can call the Brewer Police Department (989-7001)
- Alkaline Batteries – Dispose of in your weekly household trash.
- Ammunition – Call Brewer Police Dept. (989-7001)
- Fireworks – Call Brewer Fire Dept. (989-7002)
- Asbestos – Contact Juniper Ridge Disposal (394-4372)
- Propane Tanks – Call Suburban Propane (848-2346)
- Explosives – Call Police Dept. (989-7001)
- Smoke Detectors – Universal Waste Coll. (989-5417)
- Radioactive Materials – Maine D.E.P (941-4570)
- Household Trash – Put out roadside on your scheduled day
- Tires – Landfill (residents allowed 4 free tire disposals per year)
- Car, Lawnmower & Boat Batteries – Call Apex Metals (307-7193) or Corey Recycling (825-3595)
- Fire Extinguishers- Call Guay Fire Equipment (827-2078)
