Temporary Summer Employment
The City of Brewer Department of Environmental Services is accepting applications for summer employment at the Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF).
Daily duties include, but are not limited to, assisting the Collection System crew with sewer and stormwater duties, helping the WPCF operators to maintain the grounds at the treatment plant and pump stations, and working with staff on other projects as directed. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm, 40 hours per week. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.

The Brewer Public Works Department is seeking to hire individuals to serve as our temporary full-time Summer Crew.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain valuable work experience, or bridge gaps in their current employment. Prior experience with sidewalk paving, line painting, and/or lawn repair is desirable, however, we are willing to provide the necessary training for those candidates who demonstrate the desire to learn and have a positive team-orientated attitude.
If you are a hardworking and dependable individual who enjoys working outside on a variety of construction and maintenance related tasks, then this is the place for you.
A typical workweek is 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday – Friday with occasional weekends and/or overtime. All applicants must be at least 17 years of age and able to pass a pre-hire drug screen test, license, and background check.

Laborer / LEO
The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual to fill the position of Laborer/Light Equipment Operator. The Brewer Public Works Department is dynamic and versatile department responsible for much of the city’s infrastructure including the maintenance and construction of streets, sidewalks, storm water, and sewer systems.
Experience with operating a variety of light equipment, working on construction type projects, as well as basic carpentry, masonry skills, and snow removal operations are highly desirable. The City is willing to provide training the right candidate who is highly motivated and demonstrates enthusiasm to learn. The candidate selected for this position should already have a valid Class B Maine Commercial driver’s license, or have the ability to obtain one within 6-months of hire. Candidates must have a high school diploma, or a G.E.D. equivalent, in order to apply for this position. The selected candidate must be able to successfully pass a pre-hire physical, drug screening, and background check. This is a full-time position, which includes a comprehensive benefit package.
