Summer Help 

The City of Brewer Department of Environmental Services is accepting applications for summer employment at the Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF).

Daily duties include, but are not limited to, assisting the Collection System crew with sewer and stormwater duties, helping the WPCF operators to maintain the grounds at the treatment plant and pump stations, and working with staff on other projects as directed.  Work hours are Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm, 40 hours per week.  Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.

Firefighter/EMT

The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking a fire fighter to join the ranks of Brewer’s bravest. If you are a highly motivated individual who is organized and task orientated, all while having the ability to work in a close team environment then this is the place for you.  Duties include EMS response, fire suppression & prevention, and rescue & equipment operations on a 42-hour work week, 24-hour on, 24-hour off, 24-hour on, 120 hours off.

The minimum qualifications for this position include, high school diploma or GED equivalent, valid Maine driver’s license, NREMT-B license, Pro Board firefighter 1& 2 certifications, NIMS 100, 200, & 700.  Successful candidates are required to pass a written exam, with an oral board.  Complete a physical agility test, and be in excellent physical health as confirmed by a licensed medical doctor.

Employment is subject to the candidate passing a pre-employment psychological evaluation, physical, drug screening, driver’s license verification, and background check. Preference will be given to military veterans and to candidates holding a valid State of Maine EMS license or State of Maine Firefighter 1 and 2 certifications.

Light Equipment Operator & Heavy Equipment Operator 

The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking a team-oriented individual with a good work ethics and attitude to fill the positions of Light and Heavy Equipment Operators with the Brewer Public Works Department.  This is a dynamic and versatile department responsible for much of the city’s infrastructure including the maintenance and construction of streets, sidewalks, storm water, and sewer systems.

Ideal candidates will have a State of Maine Class B (CDL) operator’s license, or the ability to obtain one within 6-months of hire, and a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Candidates applying for Heavy Equipment Operator should also have a minimum of 6 years’ experience operating a variety of equipment including excavator, bull dozer, front end loader, and grader. Selected candidates must be able to successfully pass a pre-hire physical, drug screening, and background check.
