The Brewer Public Library will host a Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance (MWPA) workshop led by critically acclaimed, award-winning author Megan Frazer Blakemore. Attendees will peel back the rosy layers of nostalgia and explore how to write authentically for children and teens. Through readings, film clips, and writing exercises, attendees will gain a better understanding of voice as it relates to children and teens. FEE: $50 for MWPA members; $110 for non-members. The Brewer Parks and Recreation Department has suspended all activities, meetings, and events at the Ferris Community Center until further notice. This includes the Afterschool Program, walking program, and all youth and adult programs. Civil War historian and author Brian F. Swartz will present the well-illustrated program “Maine and Brewer Help Save the Union in 1861 and 1862” via Zoom.
