After School Program – Like No Other!
The After School Program offers many activities and new experiences for your child. Both our grade k – 4 Afterschool Program and grades 5/6 Afterschool Programs are located at the Joseph L. Ferris Community Center.
This program is designed to introduce youngsters age 4 & 5 to the game of basketball while learning skills such as socializing, teamwork and sportsmanship. Children will learn new skills and play basketball focused games.
Program is held in January.
Non-competitive program for students in grades K – 1 with emphasis on introducing basic basketball skills such as dribbling, passing, defense & shooting in a fun and positive atmosphere.
Program begins in December.
Instructional Basketball, Grade 2
This program will focus on the basic skills and strategies of basketball through a variety of drills and game play.
Program begins in December.
Stay active and enjoy one of your favorite activities by joining our grades 3-5 dodgeball league. Held Thursday evenings beginning in mid – February.
Tee Time Tune Up Golf Lessons for Adults
Get your golf swing ready with this late winter primer. Players of all levels can enjoy instruction while they get their golf swings ready for the upcoming season. PGA professional Mark Hall heads up this program and offers a multitude of swing tips and top notch instruction.
Class will be held beginning March 14 and runs four weeks. Cost will be $40 for residents and $50 for non-residents. Class size will be limited to ten participants. Pre-registration is required.
Indoor Golf Net Rentals
Keep your swing in shape this winter while hitting in our indoor golf net. Call ahead to reserve your tee-time. $2.00 for a half hour. The golf net will become available January 7th.
Drop in pick-up games on Tuesday & Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m. $2.00 per time, beginning the second week of November.
Drop in pick-up games on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. $2.00 per time, beginning December 4.

2,000 steps a day keeps the doctor away; come inside and walk with us and feel great! Enjoy making new friends while you reap the benefits of walking at your own pace, in our warm and inviting space.
The gymnasium is open week days from 6:30 – 9 AM for adult walkers to enjoy.
Adult Fitness Class
This new program provides an energizing workout that is perfect for all fitness levels and will enhance your overall health and well being with aerobic and conditioning routines. Participants should bring an exercise mat with them.
Senior Exercise Class
Older adults who are looking to improve their strength, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness will enjoy this class for the socialization as well as the health benefits.
Class is held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9-10 AM and cost is $2.00 per class.
Join certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor Bunny Barclay. Classes are designed to improve strength, flexibility, and balance, and to increase the minds ability to focus and relax through self awareness. Class format will also include postures and guided relaxation/meditation.
Participants should bring a yoga mat with them.
Senior Citizen’s Club
The Brewer Senior Citizen’s Club meets regularly on Thursdays throughout the year in the Kenneth E. Hanscom Community Room. Guest speakers, pot lucks, weekly card games, and trips provide local seniors the opportunity to socialize and stay active.

Preschool Fun Time
This program is designed to offer parents and youngsters a large play area where they can participate in games of their choice. Recreational equipment is supplied to encourage youngsters to development physically and to socialize with other children.
Wednesdays, from 10 -11:30 AM, beginning in mid-November.
Home School Open Gym
If you are looking for a place to incorporate some gym time into your home school curriculum, join us for this new activity. Parents and students can participate in activities of their choice, however equipment and activities may be limited by size and age of participants. Fridays, from 10:30-11:45 AM, Ages 5-16; Residents: $3, Non-residents: $4 per session.
Outdoor Skating Rinks
The Brewer Parks and Recreation Department maintains two outdoor skating rinks for your winter time enjoyment.
The Caldwell Rink, located on Acme Road, offers one of the best surfaces in the area. The parks staff makes ice early weekday mornings and the ice is generally ready by 10:00 a.m., conditions permitting. Lights are on from dusk to 10:00 p.m.. The Caldwell Rink is primarily for hockey but recreational skating is encouraged as well.
The Doyle Field Rink, located adjacent to the Joseph L. Ferris Community Center, is for recreational skating only, no sticks or pucks allowed. Ice is made early weekday mornings and is generally ready by 10:00 a.m., conditions permitting.
Sunday Open Gyms
Enjoy some active time with your family with pick-up basketball and free shooting time. The schedule begins the beginning of January.
Schedule is as follows:
Family Open Gym: 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Grade 5 – under: 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Grade 6 – 12: 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Drop – N – Shop
Need to do some holiday shopping or want a night out? Can’t find a babysitter? The Brewer Parks & Recreation Department is excited to announce that we will be hosting a Drop-N-Shop for children in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade on December 8, 2018! Pizza and drinks will be provided along with an evening of gym games, holiday themed crafts, and other activities. Call 989-5199 for further details.
Brewer Hometown Band Holiday Concert
Enjoy an evening of festive holiday music as Brewer’s own Hometown Band plays all of your holiday favorites. The Hometown Band is sure to get concert goers of all ages in the holiday spirit with a wide variety of holiday favorites, treats and door prizes.
Come hear one of the area’s best hometown bands.
Daughter Valentine Dance
Join us for this much anticipated annual event as girls in grades K – 6 and their guest will enjoy an evening of music, dancing and treats as they spend this special evening together. Watch for registration materials to be released in early January.
