The City of Brewer is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the ranks of Brewer’s Fire Department. The selected candidate will join a professional fire department team; duties include general EMS, fire suppression and prevention, and rescue and equipment operations. The minimum qualifications for this position include high school diploma or GED, valid Maine driver’s license, and residency within 30-minutes of the Brewer Fire Station. Must pass a written exam with an oral board, complete physical agility test, and be in excellent physical health as confirmed a physician.  Successful candidate must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and driver’s license/background checks. Preference will be given to military veterans, State of Maine EMT and/or Firefighter Certificate holders, as well as a Hazmat Materials Operations Certificate.  The City of Brewer offers a competitive wage and benefit package. Public Works Department
Shop Foreman Position

The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking a highly organized and detailed orientated individual to fill the Public Works, Shop Foreman position. This position is responsible for all aspects of the Vehicle Maintenance Shop and directly supervises two (2) full-time mechanics. The minimum qualifications for this position include, high school diploma or GED equivalent. Desired to have a minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience, with fifteen (15) years as a mechanic on vehicles and construction equipment and experience with welding and bodywork. Successful applicants must possess a valid State of Maine Class B (CDL) operator’s license, or have the ability to obtain one within the first year of employment, pass a pre-hire physical and drug screening, and employment is subject to a driver’s license and background check. Public Works Department
Summer Positions

The Brewer Public Works Department is now taking applications for summer employees to help with various work activities during the summer months such as sidewalk paving, line painting, lawn repairs etc. We are looking for hard working, dependable individuals who enjoy working outside on a variety of task in a team environment. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age however, 18 years of age and a valid driver’s license is preferred.  All prospective employees will be required to pass a pre-hire drug screen test and background check.
