The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual with a good understanding of construction principals to fill the position of Crew Leader/Heavy Equipment Operator. The Brewer Public Works Department is dynamic and versatile department responsible for much of the City’s infrastructure including the maintenance and construction of streets, sidewalks, storm water, and sewer systems.

Experience managing crews, operating a variety of construction equipment, working on construction type projects, as well as basic carpentry and masonry skills, and commercial snow removal operations are highly desirable. However, we are willing to provide training to a candidate who has enthusiasm to learn and is a highly motivated, self-starter. The candidate selected for this position should already have a valid Class A Maine Commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement, or have the ability to obtain one within 6-months of hire. Candidates must have a high school diploma, or a G.E.D. equivalent, in order to apply for this position. The selected candidate must be able to successfully pass a pre-hire physical, drug screening, and background check. This is a full time position, which includes a comprehensive benefit package.

Summer Employment

The Brewer Public Works Department is now taking application for summer employees to help with various work activities during the summer months such as sidewalk paving, line painting, lawn repairs etc. We are looking for hard working, dependable individuals who enjoy working outside on a variety of task in a team environment.  Applicants must be at least 17 years of age however, 18 years of age and a valid driver’s license is preferred.  Interested individuals can acquire an application at the Public Works office located at 221 Green Point Road in Brewer, Maine.  All prospective employees will be required to pass a pre-hire drug screen test and background check.

Summer Employment

The City of Brewer Environmental Department is accepting applications for summer employment at the Water Pollution Control Facility. Duties will include daily maintenance of the Facility and pump station grounds and assisting the Environmental Technicians in the daily preventive maintenance activities in the sewer and stormwater collection systems. We are looking for dependable, hard-working, team players who enjoy working outside on a variety of tasks. Applicants must be 17 years of age however, 18 years of age and a clean valid driver’s license is preferred. Interested individuals can acquire an application of employment at the Brewer Water Pollution Control Facility located at 37 Oak Street in Brewer, Maine or call at 989-5417 and have one sent to you. All prospective employees will be required to pass a pre-hire drug screen test and background check. Applications will be accepted until April 29, 2016 with interviews starting in early May.
