Laborer/Light Equipment Operator

The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual to fill the position of Laborer/Light Equipment Operator. The Brewer Public Works Department is dynamic and versatile department responsible for much of the city’s infrastructure including the maintenance and construction of streets, sidewalks, storm water, and sewer systems.

Experience with operating a variety of light equipment, working on construction type projects, as well as basic carpentry and masonry skills, and snow removal operations are highly desirable. However, we are willing to provide training to a candidate who has enthusiasm to learn and is a highly motivated, self-starter. The candidate selected for this position should already have a valid Class B Maine Commercial driver’s license, or have the ability to obtain one within 6-months of hire.   Candidates must have a high school diploma, or a G.E.D. equivalent, in order to apply for this position. The selected candidate must be able to successfully pass a pre-hire physical, drug screening, and background check. Library Assistant I

The City of Brewer is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, friendly team player to fill a Library Assistant I position. This position is part-time, working a set weekly schedule of nineteen (19) hours a week. The minimum qualifications for this position include a high-school diploma or GED equivalent. The successful applicant should possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills; strong technology skills and knowledge; and willingness and ability to quickly learn new tasks.
