Executive Administrative Assistant

The City of Brewer is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Executive Administrative Assistant. This position provides direct support to the City Manager, Manager’s staff, as well as the Economic Development Department. This position has frequent contact with city councilors, citizens, city department heads and representatives of other levels of government. A high level of diplomacy and professionalism is required.

Duties will include drafting correspondence, website maintenance and social media monitoring, maintaining filing systems, and receiving the public. The successful applicant must be organized and responsible, have strength in both written and verbal communication, and possess superior computer skills. This position must maintain confidentiality on a variety of sensitive matters.

Preferred candidates will possess a college degree with five years of experience working for a senior level chief administrative or executive officer in either the public or private sector. The City of Brewer provides a competitive pay and benefit package.

Laborer/Light Equipment Operator

The City of Brewer is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, team-oriented individual to fill a full-time position of Laborer/Light Equipment Operator.

The Brewer Public Works Department is a dynamic and versatile department responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining city infrastructure; including the maintenance and construction of streets, sidewalks, storm water, and sewer systems.

Experience with operating light equipment, working on construction projects, basic carpentry, masonry skills, and snow removal is desirable. However, we are prepared to provide training to a candidate who shows enthusiasm to learn, motivation to perform at a high standard of excellence, and has strong initiative.

Candidates should have a Class B Maine Commercial driver’s license, or have the ability to obtain one within 6-months of hire. Must have a high school diploma, or a G.E.D. equivalent and pass a pre-hire physical, drug screening, and background check.

Summer Employment

The Brewer Public Works Department is now taking application for summer employees to help with various work activities during the summer months such as sidewalk paving, line painting, lawn repairs etc. We are looking for hard working, dependable individuals who enjoy working outside on a variety of task in a team environment. Applicants must be at least 17 years of age however, 18 years of age and a valid driver’s license is preferred.
