Heavy Equipment Operator

The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual with a good understanding of construction principals to fill the position of Heavy Equipment Operator. The Brewer Public Works Department is dynamic and versatile department responsible for much of the City’s infrastructure including the maintenance and construction of streets, sidewalks, storm water, and sewer systems.

Candidates should have experience in operating a variety of construction equipment including bulldozer, excavator, loader and grader on construction type projects. Experience in commercial snow removal operations are highly desirable however, the City willing to provide training to a candidate who is a highly motivated, a self-starter and eager to learn. The candidate selected for this position should already have a valid Class A Maine Commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement, or have the ability to obtain one within 6-months of hire. Candidates must have a high school diploma, or a G.E.D. equivalent, in order to apply for this position. The selected candidate must be able to successfully pass a pre-hire physical, drug screening, and background check. The City of Brewer is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, friendly team player to fill the position of Library Assistant: InterLibrary Loans and Outreach. If you are seeking meaningful work with real community impact, this is for you! This position is part-time, working a set schedule of nineteen (19) hours a week with hours split among InterLibrary Loans, outreach, and circulation tasks. Some flexible hours may be required to assist with special events. The minimum qualifications for this position include a high-school diploma or GED equivalent, strong technology skills and knowledge, and experience and/or training with library systems. The successful candidate will possess a State of Maine Class A (CDL) operator’s license with 8-plus years of experience in construction type activities and equal experience operating heavy equipment.  Prior experience leading small crews, project planning, and overall supervision is highly desirable.
