Public Works Department
Heavy Equipment Operator

The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual to fill the position of Heavy Equipment Operator. The Brewer Public Works Department is a dynamic and versatile department responsible for much of the city’s infrastructure including the maintenance and construction of streets, sidewalks, storm water, and sewer systems.

Experience with operating a variety of heavy equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and/or graders on construction projects. Experience in commercial snow removal is desirable, however, we are willing to provide training to a candidate that displays enthusiasm, a desire to learn, and is a highly motivated self-starter.

The candidate selected for this position should have a Class A Maine Commercial driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one within 6-months of hire.   Candidates must have a high school diploma, or a G.E.D. equivalent, in order to apply for this position. The selected candidate must be able to pass a pre-hire physical, drug screening, and background check. This is a full time position, which includes a comprehensive benefit package. Public Works Department
Crew Leader/Heavy Equipment Operator

The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual with a good understanding of construction principals to fill the position of Crew Leader/Heavy Equipment Operator. The Brewer Public Works Department is dynamic and versatile department responsible for much of the City’s infrastructure including the maintenance and construction of streets, sidewalks, storm water, and sewer systems.

Experience managing crews, operating a variety of construction equipment, working on construction type projects, as well as basic carpentry and masonry skills, and commercial snow removal operations are highly desirable. However, we are willing to provide training to a candidate who has enthusiasm to learn and is a highly motivated, self-starter. The candidate selected for this position should already have a valid Class A Maine Commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement, or have the ability to obtain one within 6-months of hire. Candidates must have a high school diploma, or a G.E.D. equivalent, in order to apply for this position.
