The City of Brewer (9,123 pop.) is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual to fill the position of Deputy Code Enforcement Officer.

This position is responsible for performing residential and commercial building inspections, investigating complaints and resolving violations of local Codes and Ordinances. The successful candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills, all necessary certifications, or the ability to obtain these certifications within 1-year of hire. Relevant work experience in basic building construction, including plumbing, electrical, and structural analysis of buildings is highly desirable. Individuals applying for this position must possess a valid State of Maine driver’s license. Preference will be given to applicants with an electrical license with relevant electrical work experience.

Essential duties include: working knowledge of code enforcement practices and procedures, ability to ensure compliance with applicable statutes and ordinances, the ability prioritize and multi-task a wide range of responsibilities, and work well with the public.
