The City of Brewer is seeking a motivated and collaborative Deputy Economic Development Director to support business attraction, retention, and community growth initiatives. This professional position assists with the development and implementation of economic development plans, programs, and services that advance Brewer’s economic vitality.
Key responsibilities include working with local businesses and partner organizations; assisting with business recruitment and marketing efforts; researching and administering grants and economic development financing tools; preparing reports and presentations; and responding to inquiries from businesses, residents, and other stakeholders. The position also plays an active role in planning and coordinating community events in collaboration with City departments, local businesses, nonprofits, and volunteers.
The ideal candidate will have a background in economic or community development, workforce development, or a closely related field, along with strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Experience in grant writing marketing, and business counseling are highly valued. A four-year degree in business, public administration, economic development, economics, marketing, finance, or a closely related field is strongly preferred.

The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking an organized, motivated, and team focused individual to fill the full-time position of Purchasing Agent with the Public Works Department. This important Department is a positive, dynamic workplace with dedicated crew members who strive daily for service excellence.
This position is responsible for a vast range of tasks including, but not limited to, locating and purchasing materials; preparing and tracking competitive sealed bids; record keeping for fuel as well as vehicle and equipment maintenance logs; communicating with the public and vendors; and has an active role in safety training. Minimum qualifications for this position include high school diploma or GED equivalent and valid State of Maine driver’s license. Experience with computers, office equipment, as well as purchasing, office and tracking software programs is desirable.
