Christmas Tree and Yard Waste Disposal

The City of Brewer is again offering the convenience to residents of disposing their Christmas trees at the Brewer Auditorium inside the lower entrance off Wilson Street anytime between Tuesday, December 26 and Monday, January 15.  In addition, due to the recent storm, residents are welcome to dispose of trees, branches or brush at this same site.

To accommodate the increased amount of yard waste, the landfill will be open every day between Tuesday, December 26 and Friday, January 5 (including Saturday, December 30) from 7:30am to 3:00pm.  Whether you are disposing of yard waste or a Christmas tree at either location, please be sure to remove all decorations and the tree stand, and please do not wrap the tree in plastic.  The regular curbside trash pickup will not take Christmas trees nor will the City crews be collecting the trees curbside.

Trash and Bulk Waste Disposal

For the weeks of December 25 to December 29 and January 1 to January 5, trash collection will be moved to day following your regularly scheduled collection day due to the Christmas and New Year’s holidays falling on Mondays.

Between December 26 and January 5 residents will be allowed to place up to 10 bags curbside for rubbish collection for no extra fee (City of Brewer disposal tags will not be required).  The size of bag, weight limit per bag and other rules for the curbside collection will still apply.  Please remember that broken down cardboard does not need to be placed in bags.  This will be the only timeframe in which residents will be allowed to put out more than 5 bags of rubbish for the curbside collection.

For any questions, please contact Public Works at (207) 989-7800 during their regular business hours.  The City of Brewer wishes you all a safe and joyful holiday season!
